iTunes Back to Normal after Quit & Relaunch

Well after quitting iTunes and restarting it, it seems to be working much better now.

Take a look for your self.

Try a Roku box and start watching Internet audio & video on your TV.

If you have a Netflix account already and want a cheap and easy way to watch the instant downloads the $79 Roku box is a great way. The Roku box uses the WiFi or ethernet network in your house to download video and audio content directly from the Internet to your TV. There are great things like the Amazon video store where you can rent and buy videos, as well as the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) channel to watch archived fights and more. There are also PodCast channels from MediaFly, Revision 3, TWiT, and others. As well as the Nasa Channel, PBS, and You Tube, and even a Facebook photos channel. If you have an interest, click the link below and get a discount. Hope you try it, and enjoy it as much as I do.

Instant movies, shows and more-on your TV. It's the best discount I've seen on Roku: get $20 OFF* if you sign up for Netflix. *New Netflix customers only.

Dear PopSci - I'll take the $1 per paper issue instead of $4.95 for the iPad issue

I have been a longtime PopSci reader, and I must say that I still love the magazine. You have done a wonderful job, for the thirty years I have been reading it and I plan to read it till I die. Popular Mechanics too!

However, I recently stopped subscribing because I had a business that was failing and just didn't have the time. The magazines kept pilling up.

I recently purchased an iPad from Apple and love the new iPad app - it took me a while to figure it out, but I've got it now, and it's great.

Btw-I paid my brother-in-law who I owed for working at my store by giving him my much older laptop-and used the money to buy the iPad for me as a replacement.

But, my old subscriptions were about $12 per year or less, which was a great deal by the way. So, I must say that when I get a job (business died) I will have to go back to purchasing the paper product. I really don't want to, because I like the idea of the iPad digital version that I can search, copy and paste from, tweet about, etc. But, I just can't afford $4.95 an issue. You have no printing costs, and I have been twenty years in the publishing business so I know that the printing cost (which the digital version has none) is the most expensive cost. Or, at least it was in my yellow page and magazine business. I just can't understand (except that you must think iPad users are rich so why not steal from them) why you would make the digital version so much more expensive then the paper version. It's just wrong.

I will change my mind, if you reduce the cost to more like $10-15 per year, but until then I guess it's just paper for me.

By the way, I don't think you really even put the ability for me to search, copy and paste, and tweet about articles, but you should have because beyond the environmental savings and the ability to keep past issues forever (with out taking up shelf space), I cant' see any real improvement yet in the digital product over the paper one.

A+ for effort, but D- for execution.
Stop the greed, and feed my mind, and i'll feed your wallet.

3D Scanner & 3D Printer

Here is a great item to have access to, or own if you need to recreate a part for something that just isn't available any more. It goes along great with the 3D printer I listed on the blog earlier. It's a 3D scanner. They also have a great 3D printer in this video that will create your objects already assembled. Absolutely awesome. If your into this type of thing.

Wow, Winscape is fantastic, if you have a few buc's lying around!

This combination of twin tv's, computer, wii remote, sensor & iPhone app, gives you the power to put virtually any view you want in your bedroom. It's not as good as being there, but then you can change the view and virtually "go somewhere else" with no plane ticket too.

Do you think I'm crazy?

I'm sorry I thought this car was gonna be economical. At 32k (or even 25k) and as small as it is, it's just way to expensive. Email me when they are 12k like the sentra, and other gas autos of the same size. At 24k and the price of the additional electricity (how much can I expect my electric bill to go up by the way every month) it just doesn't seem to be worth it. Will it save me any money, I doubt it. Is it really any greener than the gas alternative, I doubt it. Give me some hard facts on cost studies, to prove to me it really is better for the environment, or cheaper on my wallet, or both and then i'll size down to that tiny thing. Sorry, it's cute, and that's about it.

Sent from my iPad as a response to an email from Nissan about the new Leaf electric car they are trying to sell for three times the cost of it's gas competitor. I think I'd rather buy a golf cart or moped if that's the best they can do.

Why Not?

If you know me then you know I am going thru some challenging and potentially opportunistic times right now. If not then stay tuned and I'm sure I'll share more when the moment suits me. Been thinking about career opportunities lately and had an idea. Turns out others had it too. Check out http:www.whynot.net, it seems to be close to what I had in mind. I'll post later on my thoughts as to if it acomplishes the void I felt needed filling later.

Mac Mini as Media Center / File Server

I have recently added a Mac Mini to my home network, and am trying to determine the best place to put it, and how to use it. Unfortunately for me, I use an older television set, it's a Sony and I think it's 27". Yep I know it's small (and big if ya know what I mean), but it works great. I've linked the Mac Mini's video out to it, and it works ok, although some of the media players I've used don't work great they do work. About a month ago I bought a Roku box and have it set up in my bedroom and just really dig it, so when the opportunity to take the Mini home from my business came up (another story) I decided to try to do the same type of thing with it in my living room. Now I can watch Netflix downloads, and Hulu, and TWIT, and Revision3 from either the bedroom or the living room. It's pretty nice but I am not sure which media center software I like. The content is similar but different on all of them somewhat as is the interface.

It's Here!

My new iPad finally arrived. Waited patiently all morning. It's here, it's here!

However my iPhone had quite a bit of stuff on it and it's taking too long to sync. I'm no longer patient and just want to play. Hurry up!

In the beginning.

Welcome to the start of my first official blog. Due to impending failure of my current business Precision Prints, Inc. it has come to my attention that I have seemingly awaken from a long four year slumber of working with no end in sight, and yet being too busy to notice it was all for not. Barely noticing my children growing and struggling around me, or having the time or energy to help along the way. Unable to enjoy any of the fascinating new software and hardware toys introduced to the world in my absence from it. I am now awake, and planning my resurgence into the world, albeit one day at a time. See ya there.....
